Membership Level

When choosing your Private Health Insurance cover, you can choose between a single membership, family membership, or a family membership with a dependant extension.

Single Membership

Provides cover only for the person named on the membership application.

Family Membership

Provides cover for the member, as well as the member's nominated partner and/or dependents.

Children are considered dependent until the age of 21, or 25 if they are an un-married full-time student and earning less than $10 000 per year.

Family Membership - Dependant Extension

From 1 January 2010, parents can keep their un-married children between the ages of 21 to 25 covered under their membership, even if the children are no longer studying full-time. The Dependant Extension adds a 30% loading to the cost of the membership premium and is only available on the following cover types:
